When you were younger, you dreamed of the day when Prince Charming would sweep you off your feet and perch you on a white horse, riding off toward his sprawling castle grounds...
Then you watched more romantic films and chick flicks and suddenly, another idea popped into your head. What if Romeo was tall, sun-kissed and handsome? He would sweep you off your feet and run off with you hand-in-hand into the sunset on the beach.
Later, CLEO and ELLE did the trick. A SNAG( sensitive new age guy) would be cool too...well groomed from head to toe; someone who could be your BF(best friend and boyfriend), a listener and ultimate gentleman.
When you really did grow up( or at least you thought you did), you realised "hey, I don't need a guy to be happy" yet everytime, everywhere you went, you couldn't help but be tempted to get a companion, dream that he would be the one for you "now and forever"...
Sometimes, you would say "ah, he's just the guy I need..." then the next minute you'll be cussing and swearing "i hate you, why'd you even come into my life??!!!"...
Is that really growing up?
You wanna know what growing up really is?
It's being able to control yourself and be rational before you make rash decisions.
It's about being yourself and acting naturally in front of the guy you've been crushing on.
It's about weighing the consequences before you proceed.
That is what I call growing up.
I have a friend who is really grown-up. Not that she's old or anythin', she's just really wise and I admire her for her insight into life, especially the love lives of us "hopeless" girls. (haha...)
I read this and thought, "wow, she sure is cool. she's so strong and decisive. why not be like her?"
I leave you with her exact same words and shan, if you're reading this, thank you for waking me up just when I was falling into a drunken stupor...
"well, LOVE! i think it's a really great thing to have. goodness gracious me,almost everyone is blogging about how they miss that special someone or how they long to have that special someone to notice them.well, i can't really say that i have a special someone or that i've given my heart away, (though i have been sorely tempted to)but the thought of having an other half to complain to and to share my life with IS rather tempting. haha i guess that's what everybody wants, right? haha i confess at times, during lectures i do take my occasional trips to dreamland and fantasize about having some significant other. then my logical side comes into the picture and i try to visualise the ending. will the relationship work out even after we leave jc? and the answer's usually NO. haha in short,i think being attached is something awfully tempting in jc,esp with the huge supply of cuties but i don't think it's something sensible to do, cause it's really unlikely that the relationship will work out. ohwell, ill stick to dreaming during lectures..."
And that my friends, are words of wisdom. keep your chin up and don't forget to smile! :)
